Hello world!

As of this moment, this is the newest blog on wordpress.com .  Of course, by the time I finish typing this sentence, it won’t be the newest one any longer, but at least it is for the moment.  I hope to learn more about wordpress as things go along, but for now let’s just get on with it, shall we?

My name is John Stricker and I’m a wheat farmer in central Kansas.  I’m interested in and do a lot of different things.  I run a farm, a repair shop, I like auto racing and have one race car my son Chris and I compete in.  I’m also on a team that competes in the 24 Hours of Lemons series of races around the country.  You can check them out at http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/ if you’d like.

I have another passion of politics and political discussion.  In my opinion, the United States is moving further and further away from the Constitution our nation was founded on.  Before you go screaming from the room about how I’m just a racist that hates President Obama because he’s black, well, that’s just not the case.  I’m not a “birther”.  I think the President was born in Hawaii and his mother is and was a US Citizen.  To me that makes him qualified under the Constitution to hold the office.  I believe he won a fair election.  Being qualified AND elected makes him the President, even though I didn’t vote for him.

Although I do believe his policies are in many ways contrary to the Constitution, he certainly didn’t start the move away from it.  Even FDR’s “New Deal” wasn’t the start of it.  It’s been a steady progression for at least the last 3/4 of a century and both major parties are culpable.  What I’m going to try to do here on a regular basis is maintain some sanity, I hope.  I’m going to post my musings, my thoughts on current events or even some thoughts on old events.  I’m not going to comment on the latest Hollywood romances or which celebrity has just beat up their spouse.  I believe in privacy of individuals and besides, there are much bigger fish to fry.  Likewise, don’t expect a lot of family updates or what is going on in my personal life here.  If you want to know about that, shoot me an email and I’ll send you to a site that has personal news, events, and family history on it.

Hopefully, many will find this interesting enough to stop in from time to time and catch up and your comments are always welcome.
